These are OPTIONAL. If you are looking for some additional humanities work you have come to the right place!
Language Arts: Khan Academy: Imagineering in a Box: Have you ever wondered how theme parks come to life? Disney Imagineers from hundreds of career disciplines around the world share how they use a wide range of skills – from story development and conceptual design, to math, physics and engineering – that all come together to create immersive experiences. Imagineering in a Box allows you to explore different aspects of theme park design, from characters to ride development, as you design a theme park of your very own. Pixar in a Box: The Art of Storytelling: Explore and learn the storytelling process at Pixar. IXL: S1 Show character emotions and traits S2 Revise the sentence using a stronger verb S3 Add imagery to stories Social Studies: IXL: F6 Middle colonies: founding and government F7 Middle colonies: economy and society Miscellaneous: You Be the Historian Historians study the everyday lives of people who lived in the past by looking at clues: the objects and documents that people left behind and that have somehow survived. Someday future historians interested in the history of the late 20th century may study your family! See if you can figure out what life was like 200 years ago for Thomas and Elizabeth Springer's family in New Castle, Delaware. Walking Tour of Historic Philadelphia: There are few places outside the city of Philadelphia where visitors could experience so much history just by taking a pleasant walk. You could stroll through Fairmount Park, one of the largest municipal parks in the U.S. Or tour the area around Independence Hall, truly the birthplace of our nation. Or meander along Philly's majestic Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Whether you are taking these virtual tours from the comfort of your home computer, or using them as a guide for a real walking tour, welcome to Philadelphia! Starting this week in 5th grade students will have STEM on Mondays and Wednesdays and Humanities on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
