Today we started classifying polygons based on number of sides and whether they are regular (all sides and angles equal) or not regular. Many students were able to get their homework done in class.
Homework: page 907-908 Students worked in their small groups to play the game Eat or Be Eaten, making food chains from a given ecosystem.
Today students took a pre-test for our chapter on geometry. We will begin to work with classification of shapes and angles as well as the coordinate plane (graphing points).
Homework tonight: complete any missing/redo work Today we reviewed our work from BrainPop yesterday and started playing "Eat or Be Eaten" in small groups. We will continue tomorrow.
Today we reworked our chapter 10 tests on multiplying and dividing fractions. There was no new work, but MANY students have late or missing assignments. Students were given WIN spreadsheets yesterday with what they owe. Students should use this to chip away at the work that they owe.
Homework: complete any missing/redo work We took at "check-in" test on measurement conversions today. Many students did very well. We will move on to our next topic during class time but I will meet with small groups of students during WIN to continue practice conversions.
Homework tonight: Practice 4-2 worksheet (in-class work from Friday) Today we continued to work with the metric system. Classes were a bit short today due to the 7th/8th grade concert and a whole grade-level chat about our Boston trip tomorrow.
We reviewed questions from last night's homework and previewed the homework for tonight (due on Friday) that replaces our meters and grams with liters. Students were excited that they are only really dealing with liters and milliliters :) Homework tonight: page 881-882 (not due until Friday) Please work on missing/redo assignments too! We worked on a review of the first part of the chapter including converting customary units and metric units of length (from yesterday). We also reviewed the lesson from yesterday as we talked about last night's homework. Some students added to their notes a graphic on the metric system and wether to multiply or divide.
Homework tonight: page 875-876 Today we started our unit on Food Webs. We will be exploring how to understand food webs and follow food chains from producers to top consumers. To begin our unit we watched a fun video on the Wild Kratts (great show from PBS) on the Food Chain Game. We started notes with some of the vocabulary that we learned from the video.
