Today we started our final adventure in science. Students watched a Bill Nye video on buoyancy and then got their clay to make boats for our boat float competition. Students each got one stick of clay that they will need to craft into a boat that will float the most number of pennies. Students will had class time today (2 periods) and one more class period tomorrow to construct their boats. When we return from Kettle Cove on Wednesday, students will compete in their homerooms. The top two boats for each homeroom will compete in the 5th Grade Boat Float on Friday morning. On Tuesday, students worked on making food webs using organism cards for one of three ecosystems. Students read about their food sources and predators then sorted the organisms and placed them into food webs. As students finished their food webs today, they were able to play "Eat or Be Eaten" which is a card game about making food chains.
Sorry for the delayed post...mom-duties called :)
On Wednesday students worked on identifying triangles based on their angles and sides. Students worked on sheet D34 for homework last night. Today we discussed ways to classify quadrilaterals and looking at how many quadrilaterals can have multiple names- example: a square is a quadrilateral, a parallelogram, a rectangle and a kite based on its attributes. Students worked on in class and will need to finish up for homework if necessary D39 "Why Didn't the Snobbish Potatoes Want Their Daughter to Marry a News Broadcaster?" Today we continued our work with multiplying mixed numbers. Students worked on a 2-sided worksheet with one side practicing estimating and the other solving. Whatever students did not finish (should be about 10 questions), they need to finish tonight for homework.
I'll post the pictures of notes tomorrow, I forgot to grab them before I ran out today. HOMEWORK TONIGHT: FINISH CLASSWORK- C59/C60 MUST SHOW WORK ON C60 |
