We started the Gizmo on photosynthesis this morning and will continue working on it tomorrow. Students are working with a virtual lab to test how the amount of carbon dioxide, the temperature and the light intensity affect the rate of photosynthesis (as found through the rate of oxygen being produced). This is a fun reminder of the scientific method and how to test hypotheses to learn new information about what we are studying. Tomorrow I will be out, so Kathy Walsh will be working with students.
Reminder- Vocab quiz on Wednesday (students should use their flip-books to study)

Students worked on converting between units of measurement for length. We went over the conversions and whether you multiply or divide.
Homework: pages 811-812 due Friday because of field trip. Today we started our photosynthesis unit. We watched a Study Jams video and took notes on vocabulary and the "recipe" for photosynthesis.
Today we used one version of the chapter 12 test as a practice test. Students took the test independently and then we reviewed whole group. Students will have their test tomorrow. They can study using the practice test, any pages form chapter 12 in their math books and the IXL skills list that I gave them ( AAs-EEs).
Homework: chapter 12 test tomorrow We had a few students finishing up work and taking the missed 4-sphere quiz from yesterday. The Newton's played Kahoot to review the 4-spheres.
Today we reviewed for our geometry (chapter 12) test that will be on Tuesday of next week. Students worked on pages 979-982 in their books. We will review this as a class on Monday.
Students took their 4-Sphere quiz today. Because it was on Socrative, I was able to quickly score them....everyone did AWESOME!
Most students worked to finalize their volume towers today and did some IXL practice on geometry to prepare for the test on Tuesday. I will post pictures of final products tomorrow when everyone is finished :)
Homework tonight: make sure all of the "math" for the volume towers is complete and ready to turn in tomorrow CHAPTER 12 TEST ON TUESDAY today in honor of national teacher appreciation week students each wrote a thank you letter to a teacher that I will be either delivering or mailing out tomorrow.
homework: M5-M9; finish teacher letter if not completed in class Today we discussed composite shapes and how to find the volume. We practiced together and then student continued working from the book (pages 967-970).
Homework tonight: pages 971-972 |
