We worked on learning about and identifying the different properties associated with addition. We took notes, worked on some examples on the board and did some independent practice in math books (pages 341-346).

Students have a vocabulary quiz on our photosynthesis words on Tuesday, 12/6.
We started a unit on photosynthesis this week. We have watched a video about the "ingredients" needed for photosynthesis to take place and what "products" are made. We listened to the karaoke with that video and watched a fun song by my favorite singer/science teacher, Mr. Edmonds. Students worked together to experiment with chlorophyll chromatography by extracting chlorphyll from spinach leaves and seeing the chlorophyll pigment on a coffee filter.
We have been continuing to work on multiplying using the traditional model. All students have done up to 3-digit numbers multiplied by 2-digit numbers and some have challenged themselves by using both 3-digit numbers. We also reviewed skills from earlier in the chapter (prime factorization, estimating products, multiplying using powers of 10, exponents and bases and distributive property). The chapter 2 test was started today and some will need to finish tomorrow. Additionally, all students will be pre-testing chapter 5 to see what skills need to be focused on and which have already been mastered before starting the chapter next week.
