On September 24th we did a group task activity that asked students to figure out how to stack 6 cups into a pyramid shape without their hands (or any other body part) crossing over the table. Students worked together in groups of about 6 with only one rubber band and 6 strings. Groups worked and failed on many trials so we came together as a group to share what was more successful and what was creating more challenge. Many groups agreed that too many people talking at once made it really hard to follow what was being said and that when some of the group members were distracted they kept on "messing up". Successful traits were talking one at a time- and in many having one "leader" to give directions, moving slowly, and being patient. When time ran out we had 2 groups successfully complete their towers and one that was very close!
