Today we reviewed how to model division story problems by identifying the number of items being broken up (how many wholes you need) and how many people/things will be sharing those parts (number of pieces to break them up into). We then made the connection between division and fractions. For example, if you break up 4 things into 6 parts, each part will be 4/6 of a whole. Students then practiced making number stories around given fractions and the context provided by classmates- some got very funny!
