Today we began to talk about what a saturated solution is and what evidence students can use to determine if a solution is saturated. Students used shaker bottles to saturate 50 ml of water. We discussed that we need to filter off the salt left at the bottom because it was not part of the actual solution since the salt did not dissolve. You will see that some students really got into their shaking :) This works toward our target of being able to model identify materials based on their properties and model that matter is made up of particles too small to be seen. We will work on other chemicals into next week.
