Today we started our work with converting metric units. We started with length (kilometers, meters, centimeters, and millimeters). We talked about how it was similar to converting customary units because you divide to get bigger units and multiply to get smaller units but that this system was based on tens. We did out the work on a few problems to help students see the pattern of multiplying and dividing by powers of ten (move the decimal left or right).
