Today we started a "Gizmo" on solubility and temperature. This is an online simulation where students can change conditions to see how temperature affects how much of a solute can be dissolved into a solution. This builds upon our concepts of saturation and being able to identify if a solution is saturated or not and also introduces the idea of concentration (how much solute is in a given amount of solvent) which we will begin discussing after break.
Tomorrow we will have a double-science block to continuing to work on the gizmos and do our supersaturated solution activity. Students will bring home their Borax crystals on Friday. Thanks to the students (yay parents) who brought in Borax today. We are all set on the Borax but please remember to send a glass jar (no lid needed) in with your student. They will be bringing them home on Friday with their crystals.
