What a weird couple of weeks we have had...and I hear rumors of another storm heading our way next week...say it isn't so!! Today I had the kids work on their poetry in both LA and SS because many kids were feeling stressed about completing it on time.
Homework: IXL H1-H2, Poetry Book due Monday morning (we will not work on these in class Monday- they are due at the start of the period).

in language arts the kids worked on their individual poetry books. I told the kids that even if we have a snow day tomorrow we will still have our ixl quiz this Friday. In social studies we watched cnn10 and then read aloud from Where the Red Fern Grows.
homework: ixl I6-11 Kids continued to work on their poetry books today- these are due next Wednesday. We are also finishing up the last of the compare/contrast book talk presentations this week.
Homework: IXL I6-I11, Book Talk (if student hasn't presented yet) After reading aloud from Where the Red Fern Grows I talked with the students about their individual poetry books. I explained to the kids that their poetry books are due next Wednesday (no working on these at home). I went over the set up of their books and gave tips on how to organize their poems and make sure that they have the minimum of at least 1 of each type of required poem.
Homework: IXL: I6-I11- capitalization and punctuation Today we finished up reading and learning about the New England Colonies- focusing on how the colonists settling the land impacted the Native Americans. I forgot to take a picture of the notes before I left school today, but promise to update the blog with pictures of notes tomorrow. After New England we moved onto the Middle Colonies- starting with the land and how the land impacts how the people live.
students worked on their poetry in LA and in social studies I was feeling generous and gave them one last class period to work on their postcards- the majority of students need to finish these tonight.
Homework- ixl I1-5 commas, New England postcard due tomorrow |
