Today the librarians came into our social studies class to teach the 4th research lesson of the year. However, you can see the notes we took yesterday on The Revolutionary War below.
Homework: Colonial Times retake test Friday
0 Comments
Colonial Times test scores are in the portal- I will be handing them back tomorrow. The retake for this assessment will be Friday.
So yesterday I only met with Arbour students and today I only had the Newton kids...both days we just had social studies. We set up our notebooks for our Revolutionary War unit and continued talking about the fallout from the French and Indian War and how it began the conflicts between the colonists and the King.
Homework: Colonial Times test tomorrow!! Use the quizlet.com flashcards to study! LA Homework: IXL S1-S4 and T1- quiz tomorrow! Today we started our Revolutionary War unit! We began by talking about the French and Indian War...I explained to the kids that in order to understand why the colonists and Britain got to the breaking point they first need to understand the French and Indian War and the fallout from that.
Homework: STUDY! Colonial Times test on Friday! When on www.quizlet.com it is important that the kids log in with Google- that way they have access to the flashcards that I created to help them study. Remember kids- no matching, test, etc....use the flashcards and star them when you don't know them...then study the starred set :) Today for LA we got to go up and meet the author of Finding Perfect and she signed every student's copy of the book! It was great! We also started our day with an hour long presentation by the author- she did such a great job and our kids were amazing listeners.
Homework: S1-S4, T1 Students did prep work for their book club meetings later this week.
Homework: IXL S1-4, T1 We finished up Southern Colonies today. Students will be taking a test on Colonial Times this Friday. I have created a quizlet for the students to use to study for the assessment. To log in students must select: Sign in with Google- this will bring them to the google sign in page where they use their school email and password to log in, this way they do not need to remember their crazy quizlet usernames.
They should use the FLASHCARD feature - making sure that the cards are giving the "term" so that it asks them the question and they have to give the answer. If they do not get the answer correct they should "star" the flashcard- then they can just practice the starred cards (and unselect the star once they have learned it)...until eventually they have no cards starred anymore at which time they can go back and study the whole set again. Kids should not use the test or matching features of quizlet until they are able to go through all the cards multiple times getting them all correct. I explained all of this to the kids today in class...but I am sure there will be some that forget when they get home! Homework: Study using quizlet - Test Friday In LA the students worked on their book club reading work. In Social Studies the students used their completed graphic organizers to begin typing their argument paragraphs. Prior to students being able to type they had to have their graphic organizer approved by me- I wanted to make sure everyone was on the right track! Argument paragraphs will be completed by the end of the day tomorrow (no working on these at home).
Homework: IXL P1-4- Prefixes We continued working on our book clubs today!
