We practiced 3 more additional activities involving present, past and future verb tenses. Special attention was placed on irregular verb past forms. Students were also allowed time to practice these skills on IXL in class. The quiz for these skills (FF-1-5) is tomorrow. We ended class by bringing our read aloud up to the epilogue which we will finish tomorrow.

Today students worked in groups to finish their graphic organizer, questions and chronological order activity on lesson 4. We then reviewed the answers and discussed The Battle of the Spanish armada, the failed search for the Northwest Passage but the implications for North America.
After finishing our wrap-up to lesson 3, I read aloud to the class lesson 4 ("Challenges to Spain") taking time to model textbook, stop'n'go reading. Students then worked in groups on history & geography based questions, establishing chronological order and completing a graphic organizer on the key accomplishments of the English, French and Dutch explorers who all sought the Northwest Passage. we will finish this work and discussion tomorrow.
Today we did three practice activities in class on present, past and future verb tenses using both regular and irregular verbs. I am trying to make sure the students get extra practice this week since the quiz on this concept is one day earlier (Thursday) this week. I finished class with reading aloud from our class novel. Most students have passed in their narratives which were due Monday.
This weeks IXL skills are FF-1-5...having to do with present, past and future verb tense use. Please note the quiz is on Thursday this week. We warmed up with the customary, weekly helper sheet on verb tenses and then did an activity on present tense choices. Students are in the process of finishing their narratives which are due today.
Today students finished their work completing the graphic organizer, chronological event sequence and review questions on Ch.4/Lesson 3-"The Columbian Exchange." Students then read Lesson 4-"Challenges to Spain" and will be asked to complete a similar activity related to that lesson tomorrow.
Today students took the assessment (Quiz) on Chapter 4 Lessons 1 & 2 in an open book/note/ partner format. We move to lesson 3-"The Columbian Exchange" next. During this lesson and lesson 4 ("Challenges to Spain") we will first read the lesson aloud in class and students will then complete guided worksheets comprised of graphic organizers, comprehension check questions and understanding chronological order sections while working in pairs.
Today we began class with a review of our grammar skills related to this week's IXL quiz...identifying helping and main verbs and choosing correct subject and verb agreement. The quiz is tomorrow. The rest of the period was devoted to writing, revising and editing student narratives. The narratives are also due tomorrow.
Today's class was devoted entirely to review and prep for the CH 4 lessons 1 & 2 quiz. A matching activity began the class followed by the use of Quizlet Live. The quiz ( open book & notes format) is tomorrow.
We began class today completing a warm-up/practice sheet on subject/verb agreement. Additional discussion was devoted to clarifying compound subjects joined by "or." Students are now in the final stages of revision and editing of their personal narratives all written here in class. These are due Friday.
