Today we watched a video of a book club and the students made observations about both the positive and negative behaviors they noticed. See below the notes the Arbour homeroom created after watching. We are using this information to create book club contracts or norms that all members will agree to. Yesterday the groups were each provided with links to 2 or 3 articles or websites that provided them with background information about the historical time period when their book takes place. The students read the information, took notes on the facts they felt would help them understand their books, and jotted down any new vocabulary. In order for them to get the most out of their historical fiction books, it is important that they have a good understanding of that time period/event.
