Students are reading the books If You Lived in the Time of Slavery and taking notes on any new information that they learn. Many kids are reading with partners and discussing, but some have chosen to work alone. When they finish the books they will be completing an in class project showing what they learned. We will be working on this for the next week or so in class. The kids have the choice of the following three projects:
Writing: 1. Write a persuasive letter convincing a slave’s master that what they are doing is wrong. 2. Write 2 poems about slavery: 1 from the slave owners’ perspective and 1 from the slave’s perspective. Music/Performance: 3. Create and perform a rap or music piece that conveys what it feels like to be a slave.
