In Language Arts today I introduced Point of View. I explained the different types of point of view and gave students a handout (See below). Students then had class time to practice- they were given 7 short passages from books and had to highlight the pronouns in the passage and underline any thoughts and feelings. After they did those two things they then used their handout to help them identify the point of view in the passage. Students are handing in this worksheet so that I can see who is understanding the skill and who needs additional practice. Any student who needs additional practice will work with me during WIN in a small group setting. Yesterday when I was out students were able to get a head start on this weeks homework or finish up their book talk summaries. At this point all students need to be done with character traits, setting, and summary of the story for their summer reading book talk.
