Today we set up our reading notebooks for this second round of book clubs. Everyone was given 2 copies of the note sheets for each sign post. We then spent time gluing these sheets into our notebooks so that we could keep ourselves organized during this unit. After that each group was given copies of their book that they are going to be reading this round and they figured out exactly how many pages they need to read for each meeting. A few of the groups decided that they wanted to read 2 books this round so they spent some time determining how many pages they will need to read in order to realistically be able to read them both and do the expected work.
I am very excited because this second round I was able to recruit other adults to help me facilitate the group meetings. This means that each group will have an adult that is reading the book with them and will be joining in on their discussions. Jonathan Werner (makerspace/library) , Amanda Kozaka (librarian), Joanna Payne (8th grade LA teacher), Stephanie Royal (guidance counselor), Sarah Hanson (social worker), and Jake Haugevick (intervention) have all agreed to give up either one or both (Sarah and Stephanie) of their free periods to join us.
