We spent both classes today reviewing for tomorrows Social Studies test. In Language Arts I made sure that everyone knew how to sign in to quizlet and were enrolled in my course (so they were able to easily access the flashcard sets). I then explained how I want them to use the quizlet to study: They should go through the flashcards- any that they do not know the answer to right away- they should click on the star in the upper right hand corner. After going through the entire set the students should then practice the starred set of cards- removing the star as they learn the cards. Once they have no starred cards left to learn they should go through the entire set from the beginning again- re-starring any cards as necessary...and repeating the process until they are able to get through each study set multiple times with no errors. Only after they do this should they do any of the "games" on quizlet...I have found that the kids love to play the games and think that because they do well on the matching game they think they are ready for the test....but in reality they are often able to do well on those games without even reading/absorbing much of the material on the card.
In Social Studies class we played Kahoot and Jeopardy as a whole class. Hopefully the students feel more prepared than they did yesterday! Everyone should continue to study tonight in preparation. Test tomorrow! If there is a snow day the test will be Friday!
